Hamidah, Muslim ibn Aqil’s daughter

The daughter of Muslim said “O’ Son of God’s messenger! You show kindness and compassion towards me like to orphans, as if they have martyred Muslim.” Imam Husain (PBUH) wept and said: “Do not become sad, if Muslim is not alive, I will be your father and my sister will be your mother and my daughters will be your sisters and my sons will be your brothers. Muslim’s daughter cried and wept bitter tears.
Mamaqani writes: Ruqayyah, the daughter of Amir al-Muminin (PBUH) has been the wife of Muslim and also the mother of Abdullah and Muhammad who were martyred in Niynawa.
As it has been written in Umdat al-Mataleb, Umm Kulthum, the daughter of Amir Al-Muminin (PBUH), was the mother of Hamidah, Muslim ibn Aqil’s daughter, who was the mother of Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil ibn Abitalib. This statement shows that Muslim married to Amir al-Muminin’s daughter named Umm Kulthum, who gave birth to a daughter called Hamidah. Hamidah married her cousin, Abdullah ibn Mohammad ibn Aqil and Muhammad was their child.
This girl (Hamidah) may have been the same girl who was summoned (called) and compassionated by Imam Husain when he received the news of her father’s martyrdom in Zubala station and she said, “You show compassion towards me like to orphans.”
