Emama Hussain Exit from Mecca

Time of departure: It was on Zil-Hajah the 8th (Al-yōm Al-Tarviyeh), the same day when Muslim rose in Kufa. Some persons say this event has happened on Tuesday, or on Wednesday, or even on Monday, Zil-Hajah the 10th. (1) It seems that date of “Tuesday, Zil-Hajah the 8th” is more exact than the rest. This time is correspondent to Shahrivar the 30th, 1359 in solar calendar.
Style of journey: In silence regarding all aspects, in the dark of dawn to protect women from watching by others.
Imam Husain recited the following poetry while he was passing by Masjid Al-Haram:
لا ذعرت السوام فی فلق الصبح مغیراً و لا دعیت یزیدا
یوم اعطی مخافة الموت ضیما والمنایا یرصدننی ان احیداً
The poet of this poetry was Yazid Ibn-e Mufraq Humayri. (2)
Ibn-e Abbas said: “I saw Imam Husain before going toward Iraq in front of Kabah’s door which his hand was in Gabriel’s hand. Gabriel was saying “Hurry up for swearing allegiance with honorable and Glorious God.”
Amount of hesitation in Mecca up to the departure time:
Imam Husain stayed in Mecca from the month of Sha’ban the third till Dhi Al-Hijjah 8th (including the months of Shaban, Ramadan, Shawwal, Dhi Al-Qa’dah, and 8 days of Dhi Al-Hajjah) which was about 125 days. (3)
